Regensburg is located in the centre of Bavaria and many people say it’s one of the prettiest cities in the world. Luckily the Old Town didn’t suffer any damage during WWII and was fortunate to be nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2006. One of the famous buildings is the Royal Castle of Saint Emmeram, which is actually bigger than Buckingham Palace. It is home to the well-known aristocratic family, Thurn und Taxis.
The romantic Christmas market is located in the grounds of Thurn und Taxis Castle and has an excellent variety of traditional stalls selling handicrafts. The location is the perfect setting for a festive and magical atmosphere – no wonder visitors say it’s one of the best Christmas markets in the world.
For this market you would need to book tickets (Sat-Sun 9.50€ per adult, Tue-Fri 7.00€ per adult, Mon 4.00€, children 2€)
From Regensburg central station walk about 10 minutes through the beautiful palace garden to the Christmas market.
