The ‘Rhine in Flames’ fireworks display is the annual highlight event at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Upper Middle Rhine Valley . On 10 August 2019 breathtaking firework displays will light the sky between Spay and Koblenz in amazing colours. For this unique festival, the largest boat parade in Europe winds its way along the river Rhine with over 60 illuminated boats. The ship convoys are accompanied by the rolling thunder of the magnificent fireworks, whose echoes break in the mountainsides and make the whole valley tremble. Visitors can enjoy the spectacle from the water on a boat or from land. Be prepared for an unforgettable experience. Boat tickets are available through the following agents:
From 9 – 11 August, parallel to the Rhine in Flames event, you can enjoy the Summer Festival in Koblenz along the Rhine and Moselle embankment around the well-kown German Corner (Deutsches Eck) by the monumental equestrian statue of Wilhelm I. Over a fun filled three days, more than 500 artists of various genres – including Pop, Jazz and Folk music – will perform on eight stages at the Koblenz summer music festival. The ‘Lounge’ stage and Silent Disco at the Schlossgarten are among a few highlights. A range of tribute bands will be performing at Castle Ehrenbreitstein for the ‘Castle Festival’ from 9 – 11 August.
For families, check out the water party and a variety of performances by a variety of local clubs as well as a special church service on Sunday.
Over the three summer festival days the cable car will operate an extended timetable between Castle Ehrenbreitstein and the festival area of the Koblenz Summer Festival.
The Koblenz Summer Festival is free of charge. The Koblenz Cup or Koblenz Wine Glass will be available at €3.00 each and can be used throughout the duration of the event.
Due to closures around the summer festival event area on the banks of the Rhine in Koblenz, it is recommended that you use public transport to get here – especially on the day of the fireworks display (Saturday).
In cooperation with the Zweckverband SPNV-Nord and evm Verkehrs GmbH, an extensive range of additional services for getting here by bus and train is offered.
Furthermore, on behalf of Koblenz Tourism there will be a Park+Ride bus shuttle from the P+R car parks in Koblenz.
