The Rhine in Flames are popular events – not only with the Germans. The spectacular firework displays held in various villages along the River Rhine have been attracting visitors for hundreds of years. The event includes firework displays, a varied entertainment programme with live music, food and drink stalls and activities for children.
Friday 6th July 2018
Around lunchtime, wine stalls will open around the Niederwald Memorial. Visitors can enjoy a glass of Rüdesheim while taking in the impressive views of the River Rhine and the mouth of River Nahe, close to Bingen. The stalls usually close in the early evening.
Saturday 7th July 2018
From 11am, winemakers tempt visitors with their outstanding wines and traditional food. From 8pm, you can enjoy some live music until the fireworks start at around 11pm.
The Rhine in flames party will be held at the Niederwald Memorial, where visitors will be able to enjoy live music from Dr. Kellerbänd (a band from Rüdesheim and the Middle Rhine Valley). You’ll be able to listen to blues, rock, jazz and pop music. Entrance is free. From the Niederwald Memorial, you’ll be able to watch the final three firework displays at Klopp Castle, Panorma Path and the River Rhine.
The mountain railway runs until 1am taking visitors back to Rüdesheim. Please note that for safety reasons, trains will stop running during the firework displays.
