Rüdesheim is located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley. The region is famous for its white wine – Riesling. Rüdesheim’s picturesque town centre has an abundance of wine bars, restaurants and shops. Many castles and historical buildings can also be discovered close by – including Brömserburg Castle, Boosenburg Castle, Rheinstein Castle and the Mouse Tower, to name but a few. The annual Rhine in flames event is a big highlight for the region that attracts visitors from around the world. Bingen is a small village on the other side of the Rhine to Rüdesheim, which is connected by a ferry.
The firework displays can be seen from the embankments between Bingen and Rüdseheim on Saturday, 6th July 2019 at around 11pm (no need to book tickets). Boat trips can be booked for tours along the river in the afternoon to see various castles, and then on towards the famous Lorelei Rock and Trechtingshausen. Visitors are then able to watch the impressive fireworks between Bingen and Rüdesheim in a convoy of approximately 50 illuminated boats. The boats return around midnight.
There’s a ferry connection between Bingen and Rüdesheim that operates until about 1am. The closest bridges crossing the Rhine can be found at Wiesbaden (approximately 30km away) and Koblenz (approximately 70km away).
