Dyck Castle is one of the most significant moated castles in the Rhineland region. Surrounded by a picturesque English garden, this historical castle dates back to 1094 when it was first mentioned as “Hermannus de Dicco’ in records held by Cologne’s Archbishop.
The Castle makes for a romantic, magical atmosphere and offers something a little different to other markets. It really is a festival for all the senses. There’s the wonderful aroma of biscuits and almonds being roasted on open fires, Christmas carols being sung by choirs from the surrounding villages and around 160 stalls offering a wonderful array of handcrafted gifts. Products range from jewellery and textiles to home accessories and Art. There’s also a wide selection of culinary delights like waffles, ‘Oma’s homemade soups’, Stollen, Italian delicatessen, Provencal nougat, English and Oriental teas.
The white marquees, candles and tasteful Christmas decorations all add to the festive ambience. In the garden, visitors can enjoy a wonderful nativity play.
