Beauty Düsseldorf is an internationally-known trade show for the beauty, wellness and spa industries. One thousand, five hundred exhibitors show new trends, ideas and products to visitors from around the world. Make-up artists might like to participate in either the German or the international make-up championships. Industry experts also talk about upcoming trends in the beauty business, showing the latest studies on consumer behaviour. This trade show is for the beauty industry only but it ideally overlaps with the TOP HAIR hairdressing trade show on Saturday and Sunday.
Where to stay? Nadja’s recommendations:
A really pretty family-run boutique hotel that I recommend is Ashley’s Garden, which is only a few minutes’ walk away from the exhibition centre – perfect for relaxing after an exhausting day at the exhibition. The cosy British-style interior is like a home from home and the hotel’s lounges are perfect to wind down after a long day. The restaurant serves top-quality meals and if the weather is warm enough, there’s also a beautiful outdoor terrace. More information on the hotel’s website: www.ashleysgarden.de
The trade show is also ideal if you want to combine it with a city break to Düsseldorf. The city has fabulous restaurants, bars and cafés as well as museums. It’s historical old town has many traditional breweries and bars. Being located on the River Rhine, it’s the perfect place to enjoy a meal with a top quality wine in one of the many outdoor food places – weather permitting of course. You could also do a spot of shopping either in the city centre (Schadowstraße, Flinger Str., Königsallee) or in the more hidden districts like Unterbilk with its beautiful little shops.
If you fancy something more typical of the region, you should try the Alter Bahnhof Brewery (Belsenstraße 2, 40545 Düsseldorf) to sample some regional Rhenish food www.brauhaus-alterbahnhof.de/
I also had a top-quality (quite pricey!) steak at the steak and seafood restaurant Reef & Beef a few years ago and it’s still a recommended place. Addres: Lennéstraße 29 in 40477 Düsseldorf (Zoo district) with a nice wine list and brilliant atmosphere. A great experience!
A place, which I haven’t sampled myself, but which is recommended by wine experts in Düsseldorf is Bob & Mary Burger & Salad restaurant. They have currently two places in Düsseldorf and the one in Düsseldorf’s Old Town (Berger Str. 35, 40213 Düsselorf) has been recommended to me. I’ve been told it has a nice wine list with top-quality wines (Baron de Ley, Schneider…): www.bobmary.de
