In May 2018, I spent a fantastic weekend away with my husband, brother and sister-in-law at the very stylish Seezeitlodge Hotel & Spa. Having only been open a year, the hotel’s modern architecture seemed to fit perfectly into the surrounding natural landscape. It’s located in the Saarland region, close to the Roman city of Trier in the Rhineland-Palatinate region on Bostalsee Lake. My husband flew from London to Luxembourg and from there it’s only a 40-minute train journey to Trier where we spent a wonderful day out. The hotel’s beautiful outside space with its fashionable terrace is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and the delicious food while watching the sunset.  All of us enjoyed the spacious spa area with its various saunas and tastefully designed relaxation areas – not to mention the wonderful treatments!

Nadja’s personal review:

If, like me, you’re into wellness, top-quality cuisine and a bit of pampering to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life, then this wonderful hotel is the perfect getaway.

I met Christian Sersch, the friendly owner, who built this oasis along with his wife Kathrin. In my view, the couple have managed to create a warm and welcoming ambience where guests are able to relax in a top-quality hotel. The interior design offers a creative, stylish tweak using natural colours and materials – giving the perfect balance between cosiness and a more contemporary style.

The buffet breakfast was available until 11am and offered a wonderful variety to suit all tastes and appetites – including the most amazing freshly baked homemade bread. They even had a section where they prepared breakfast to order in front of the guests. Dinner was included in our half-board package. We were spoilt with some wonderfully creative fish and meat dishes as well as some really good seafood. I’ll definitely be paying them another visit very soon!
