Black Forest – Glottertal Valley

The Glottertal Valley is located in the Black Forest National Park in the Breisgau region. It’s a nice location as it’s close to Switzerland and France, so you can explore different cultures and landscapes in one holiday. It’s only 20 minute drive away from the beautiful University City of Freiburg and only an hour drive to the Alsatian city of Strasbourg, which is well worth seeing. The Glottertal Valley is also a great location to go for walks or hikes or any other outdoor activities like cycling. The soft rolling hills, meadows, forests and vineyards are perfect for any cycling or walking abilities. There are more than 8,000km cycling routes to choose from. The popular entertainment park Europa Park Rust is only 30 minute drive away, which is a lot of fun for the whole family – particularly if you’re into rides. We combined our trip with a visit to Lindau Island at Lake Constance, which is Europe’s third largest lake. At winter time the Black Forest is also an impressive region with various winter sport activities on offer. The Feldberg Mountain is with 1,493m the highest mountain and very popular for skiing as it was the birth place of skiing with the first club.  Cross-country skiing and snow-shoe walking are other great fun activities for the whole family.
